In 2007, Chris was driving down 30th street in Salmon Arm on his way to the garbage dump when he passed a property for sale. He had always dreamed owning a hobby farm. Without even making it to the dump, he turned the truck around and came tearing into our driveway on two wheels.
Within 24 hours we had an accepted offer.
The previous owners used to farm strawberries but it was not farmed for many years. Our dream was to bring this beautiful piece of land back to life as a working farm.
We sold our home, put everything we owned into storage, and spent a month in Italy. While there we fell in love with the country- the food, the wine, the culture and the way of life. Our dream became turning our new farm into a little piece of Italy, and that is exactly what we did.
We started by planting 3 acres of Saskatoon berries. I began making jams and selling them at local markets. We now sell a variety of products in our own Off the Farm Shoppe.
Next came a huge vegetable garden, which quickly became the heart of the farm.
We transformed one of the outbuildings into a guesthouse, welcoming visitors from all over the world to come and experience farm life with us.
In 2022, we added a greenhouse and planted a peach orchard. Today we are well known for our beautiful fall mums, along with our spring hanging baskets and bedding plants sold throughout the growing season.
Today we welcome guests to relax , explore the farm, and enjoy everything we have to offer.
